Geoinformatics - a relatively new trend of information-technologies, actively developing the last 20 years. Area of Geoinformatics interests includes scientific and information technology gap-processing designed to work with the information about the objects and processes on the earth's surface in relation to their geographical location. Certain sources interpret Geoinformatics (GIS science, geographic information science, geoinformatics) as a science, technology and production activities for the scientific substantiation, design, implementation, operation and use of geographic information systems (GIS) for the development of geo-information technologies and application GIS for practical or scientific purposes.
