Climate warming and socio-ecological transformations of the mountain regions of the North Caucasus are reflected in the physical and geographical structure and dynamics of mountain rivers in providing life opportunities. The article provides an environmental and geographical assessment of the water resources of Karachay-Cherkessia, their viability and prospects for functioning. Empirical analysis can be used in geo-environmental monitoring and water management in the region.
