Geoecological assessment of surface water pollution in the Republic of Bashkortostan

The article considers the state of surface waters of the main water bodies within the Republic of Bashkortostan. The assessment of the quality of water resources of the republic is presented. The rivers of the Republic of Bashkortostan are characterized as "polluted": there is an excess of MPC for manganese compounds in the sections of the Belaya, Ik, and Dema rivers (8-17 times), for iron compounds in the section of the Belaya River below Beloretsk (7 times), and for copper in the control sections of Birsk and Ishimbay (4 times). The excess in oil products is typical for the target below the city of Salavat (by 5 times). Industries that negatively affect the quality of surface water include: chemical, petrochemical, and housing and communal services.
