Geopolitical security of modern Russia

The article presents a systematic analysis of the new geopolitical threats to Russia''s security, which emerged in recent years. According to the author, in 2014 the international system entered a new phase, characterized by the aggravation of confrontation between Russia and the West. Considering the three main possible scenarios of the Russian leaders’ response to the new threats, the author proceeds from the necessity of avoiding the use of military force by Russia in the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine, and at the same time the need to build diplomatic cultural, information, economic and other methods of protecting national interests.
