Geopolitical relations between Russia, the European Union and the USA: prospects of future development

The article reveals trends of changing historical periods of the detente and the escalation of tension in the relations between Russia, the European Union (EU) and the United States. It summarizes the major socio-political problems that impede the establishment of the more effective triangular cooperation. The article also analyzes the state and prospects of the existence of the EU as one of the main factors affecting the relationships in the geopolitical triangle. The basic scenarios and prospects for relations between Russia, the European Union and the United States under various transformations of EU structures are given.
