Geospatial positioning of the Southern macroregion of the Russian Federation in modern conditions: main factors and trends

The relevance of the study is due to the need for a structural transformation of the economy of the Russian Federation, in general, and the Southern macroregion, in particular. The purpose of the study is to identify the main trends in the positioning of the Southern macroregion of the RF in world economic relations, to identify factors stimulating the development of its global economic activity by expanding its presence in the world market of agricultural products and food. In preparing the article, we used such methods of scientific knowledge as synthesis, analysis, calculation and analytical tools for interpreting statistical data arrays reflecting the foreign economic activity of the Southern and North Caucasus districts of the RF. The article examines the dynamics of exports of the Southern macroregion of the RF, in general, and agricultural products, in particular. A comparative analysis of growth rates shows a significant excess in the export of agricultural products (19.5% compared to 3.0% during the observation period), which led to an increase in its share in the structure of exports of the Southern macroregion from 21.8% in 2018 to 25. 3% in 2021. The factors determining the competitive advantages of the agro-industrial complex of the Southern macroregion of the RF have been established. A set of administrative, legal, organizational and economic measures aimed at stimulating cooperation in the agro-industrial complex in the format of the Eurasian Economic Union is justified, in particular: the systematic creation of uniform standards for the sanitary and epidemiological safety of food products and agricultural raw materials for the EAEU member states; interstate coordination of methods, format, tools for simulating the development of the agro-industrial complex, etc. The results of the study can be used by government authorities of the RF, constituent entities of the RF in the implementation of agricultural policy measures, the formation of mechanisms for stimulating the export of agricultural products.
