Germany and transformation processes in security: the approach of Angela Merkel

The paper continues a series of studies on current approaches to transforming security in the Federal Republic of Germany. The novelty of the research is to systematize the views of A. Merkel on this problem. The study identifies that the Chancellor seeks to slow down the pace of supranational security and defense reforms until the general principles of upcoming transformations are established and the consensus on the matter among most countries of the European Union is reached. All the speeches by A. Merkel from January 2018 to March 2019 are analyzed. The author refrains from the theoretical analysis of the subject matter and practical advice since the approach of A. Merkel is one possible option, notwithstanding its official nature.
