Herpetological collection of acad. V. A. Obruchev Kyakhta museum of local lore

The herpetological collection of Acad. V. A. Obruchev Kyakhta Museum of Local Lore was started to form with the foundation of the museum till 1960. Currently it is represented by 520 archival units of the main fund, primarily, wet, formaldehyde specimens and a few osteological samples. The founding members of the museum, in particular V. S. Molleson, P. S. Mikhno, etc., participated in creation of this collection, also it was enriched with donations and gifts from the local population. The collection includes both species of local herpetofauna and herpetofauna of other Eurasian regions. Famous herpetologists of the country took part in the definition of amphibians and reptiles. The article contains an annotated list of the collection with a description of the collecting area and time, locations and number of specimens.
