The flexibility of the energy system as the main criterion for the development of the renewable energy sector

The article considers the need for a criterion for the flexibility of the energy system when introducing renewable energy sources into the energy system. The main barriers to the integration of renewable energy into the energy system are given. The graph of the power system capacity changes during the introduction of renewable energy is shown on the example of the power system of Italy and Germany. Existing and necessary measures have been studied to maintain the flexibility of the energy system for the further development of the renewable energy sector. The types of capacity reserve for maintaining the normal regime of a power system with renewable energy sources of the energy sector and the prospects for its development are investigated.
