This article provides an overview of the use of the concept of hybrid war in Russian political and scientific discourse. It also illustrates the genesis of the concept, outlines the main approaches designated in course of discussions. The authors also attempt to identify the instrumental sense of the new concept and make meaningful conclusions for application in the theory and practice.
