Gildas the Wise - a British missionary at the end of the 5th - beginning of the 6th centuries

This article considers the problem of Roman heritage in Sub-Roman Britain in the4th-6th centuries by studying the biography and works of the missionary monk St.Gildas the Wise. The author justifies his interpretation of the early British Christianliterary work De excidio Britanni as an example of a missionary sermon with acall to unity. Various points of view concerning the dating of biographical facts andevents in the life of the saint are also considered.
