Hypergonadotropic hypogonadism in women in the reproductive age

In women with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, premature ovarian insufficiency is observed, which occurs in about 40% of women under the age of 1 year. Ovarian function can increase and decrease; and pregnancy can sometimes occur spontaneously. These patients may sometimes bleed during a progestin removal test if there is residual ovarian function. This has led some researchers to think that this should be called hypergonadotropic amenorrhea or primary ovarian insufficiency. However, most patients with hypergonadotropic hypogonadism have ovarian insufficiency. This article discusses the course, treatment and prevention of the disease in women of reproductive age with hypergonadotropic hypogonadism.
