Histostructural organization of vaginal wall at the point of transition in the urogenital sinus in rabbits

By light microscopy, it was possible to clarify the histological structure of the lower third of the vaginal wall at the point of transition in the urogenital sinus. It was established that at the junction of genital and urethral sinuses, vaginal mucosa lined with a single layer of prismatic ciliated epithelium changes abruptly into a multilayered transitional epithelium observed in the mucosa of the urethra. The muscular coat of the vagina in this area is characterized by the increase in the circular layer and the formation of the sphincter.
