Glampings in Russia and abroad: a fashion trend or a promising format?

The modern hotel business market develops in the conditions of fierce competition, active digitalization of all sectors of the economy and, therefore, constantly changing trends. So it forms and constantly transforms the portrait of the consumer of hotel services. The above processes are especially active in the current conditions of severe restrictions associated with the pandemic. The safety, exclusivity and environmental friendliness of the services of the accommodation facility are put at the forefront as the main factors of the competitiveness of the hotel enterprise. This forced the development of such segment of accommodation facilities as glampings. The article discusses the main approaches in the formation of the concept of "glamping", provides an analysis of the typology of this segment of accommodation facilities from the standpoint of the applied architectural forms and equipment of various types of glamping. The statistics given in the article, which characterizes the number of glamping sites around the world, considering geographical regions, gives a clear idea of the growth in the popularity of these accommodation facilities among different age categories of tourists. The main statistics are given for the regions of the world where glampings have become widespread, as well as for individual subjects of the Russian Federation and the country as a whole. The article also provides a comparative analysis of the main strengths and weaknesses of glampings. The conclusions are drawn about the need for further development of glampings, about the problems that exist today and the main ways to solve them, as well as on the directions for improving this segment of collective accommodation facilities.
