The article analyzes the results of the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on US foreign policy. Today it is common to point out that the United States and as a great power are in irreversible decline, that the image of invincibility has been shattered as the country had been hit hard by the highest death toll from COVID-19 among G-20 nation, calling into question the effectiveness of its governance system and the quality of American institutions. The author argues that among American political scientists there is an understanding that America is facing internal and external political challenges that have been increased with the end of the pandemic, but there is also a desire to maintain its global leadership. Despite these contradictions, which cause numerous discussions, the United States still retains their cultural, economic and military power. However, in order to maintain international authority and leadership, the American elite needs to reassess the global role of the United States based on the formation of a new balance of power and coordination of interests with other countries.
