Despite the improvement of surgical techniques, the use of modern means and methods of conservative therapy, the results of treatment of patients with complications in the field of catheterization of the subclavian vein remain unsatisfactory. Mortality in the development of purulent-septic complications of cavacatheterization, in particular, in severe sepsis, reaches high numbers - 50-80%. In America, bloodstream infections are among the ten leading causes of death (NNIS System Report, 2004).
