The voice of indigenous peoples in contemporary cinema and TV in Mexico: lessons for Russia?

The article analyzes the Mexican TV and cinema from the standpoint of reflecting the images of the indigenous population. In work it is noted that the formation of the national characteristics of the Mexican cinema influenced the work of S. Eisenstein and G. Aleksandrov. According to media reports and modern scientific research, the artistic originality of the national TV and cinema of Mexico associated with precolonial past of the country, culture and world view in General, Indian peoples. In cinema and TV reflected the social and ethnic divisions, existing for the last five centuries of Mexican history. In some examples, the article points out the stereotyping and one-sided reflection of images of Indians (discriminatory) in these areas of culture. In the conditions of a multiethnic Mexico should seriously strengthen the role of the Indian cultural factor. The author believes that the lessons of the Mexican cinema useful for Russia: it is necessary to pay attention to the rich layers of the epic traditions of the peoples and use them to create feature films and television series.
