The city of Sevastopol as a part of Russia: problems of adaptation and possibility of socio-political development

In the article on the basis of the data obtained during field studies in June, 2015 a number of socio-political problems which arose in the city of Sevastopol after its affiliation to the Russian Federation are considered. The author gives examples of the difficulties arising in the course of adaptation of the Sevastopol society to the new institutional environment. Problems of the split of administrative elite, instability of the party system, disorganization of local government, rejection by pedagogical community of a number of innovations in education, discontent of businessmen, etc. are considered. At the same time the article shows that the key feature of the city of Sevastopol - the strong corporate spirit and the valuable core based on the pride of heroic history of the city didn't suffer during its adaptation.
