The article, based on the materials from the archive of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after V. P. Sukachev and the State Archives of the Irkutsk Region, disposes the process of creating public exhibition pavilions aimed at popularizing the scientific achievements of domestic scientists in the cultural environment of the inhabitants of the region. The study examines the history of the participation of the citizens of Baikal Siberia in the design of scientific and industrial exhibitions in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries. The paper makes it clear how collectors and artists interacted in the process of forming the urban art space. The author presents the archival sources that explain the principles of design, decoration, and creation of exhibition spaces. The documents show how the urban society of Baikal Siberia participated in the creation of collections of art objects, the study of the creative heritage of talented masters. As a result of the creation of favorable relations between different collectors and artists, spaces appeared that were generally accessible to all residents, where it was possible to get acquainted with works of art. The work proves that scientific and industrial exhibitions were aimed at expanding the knowledge of the citizens of Baikal Siberia about the scientific achievements of the present and the uniqueness of the historical past, the features of the development of painting schools, trends in art.
