State policy of social support of the population

The paper presents an overview of the social support system in the Russian Federation, in particular in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). General description of the emerging model of the regional system of social support is given in the light of such characteristics of the system as the scope of the population, the categories of citizens receiving aid, the terms for receiving social services including the needs criteria, the volume of provided social services. The paper identifies the problems in establishing the system, its contradictions and the need to develop support measures, taking into account not only the regional features and interests but also the interests and features of the territorial communities.
