State administrative projects of Transbaikalia reorganization in the second half of 19-the beginning of the 20century

The article shows the process of administrative-territorial transformation of Trans-Baikal region. We shed light on the process of reorganization of regional internal administrative subordination in dependence on foreign policy objectives of the imperial government. The discussion between representatives of different institutional structures on the geopolitical role of Transbaikalia is presented. Use of archival materials allows us to highlight the most pressing issues in creation of a clear administrative structure of the region imperial subordination.
