How was an ancient Russian town forming? Why, in contrast to the cities of medieval Europe, is the Old Russian city similar to an alive organism? What is the reason of the indisputable hierarchy of buildings in the composition of the Old Russian city? What way did the Old Russian city implant into the landscape? The article answers some questions unresolved in the theory of architecture, and reveals a pioneering for the contemporary science an absolute connection between town building and religious world-view of people.
