Graffiti as a part of Vladivostok’s urban culture

The important factors in the emergence of graffiti in cities are the demand for this informal art direction among youth and tourists. The art of street painting is represented by colorful stylized inscriptions and murals on the walls. Art objects carry a certain message. The visual context dominates historical plots and personalities, acute social and political issues. The aim of the study is to describe the features of urban graffiti on the territory of the capital of Primorsky Krai. Methods of included observation, qualitative content analysis, which allows discovering hidden meanings, and the method of comparison are used in the work. In the context of the cultural discourse, attention is focused on the actions of local authorities and talented artists aimed at popularizing the city’s cultural heritage in modern ways. Vladivostok’s legitimate graffiti is considered as a creative trend, transforming houses in the city center and beyond
