The importance of visual communications in modern science, design, art, psychology is con-sidered. Particular attention is paid to the role of graphic design in the formation of visual communications. Methods for the effective impact of visual communications are described. A typology of visual communication tools and their functions is presented. The communica-tive component of graphic design in the context of the interaction between the customer and the consumer is analyzed.
