The article is aimed to prove that, in comparison with the agrarian law of his elder brother (lex Sempronia), the agrarian legislation of Gaius Gracchus (123-122 B. C.) was not introduced in a form of a united and generalized legislative act. On the contrary, it consisted of a series of separate laws about colonies. A comprehensive analysis of the sources allows us to conclude that the colonists were allocated the land of different size in accordance with their overall wealth and that cattlemen, who did not belong to the colony, were refused the right to cross the fields of the colony with their flocks (iter populo non debetur)
