Civilian control: the experience of the research from the position of the political science

The article explains the concept of civilian control applying to its social significance. The results of research demonstrate the readiness of the population to take part in public control over authorities and local governing bodies. The authors also identify the most common practices of civilian control that were used by the NGOs. Using the materials of the Yaroslavl region study the author also considers the attitude of the authorities to such activity.
