The problem of departure of young graduates of Russian universities abroad and their return has been one of the topics discussed. The article analyzes the civil-state identity of Russian students abroad, on the base of the pilot study of three focus groups with representatives of Russian-speaking youth in Berlin (Germany) and online survey of Russian graduates living abroad. All respondents have finished education in Russia, and then migrated for various reasons. The novelty of the research is in the preliminary analysis of the views of the Russian-speaking young people, moving abroad and being in the process of adaptation on the preservation of the Russian culture. It is assumed that the transformation of civil-state identity of Russian-speaking youth affects the conservation or, on the contrary, ignoring, concealing the Russian culture that enhances the process of adaptation in a foreign language environment.
