The article discusses the image of Greek Nicholas Stamatich / Dymba as a representative of the Greek national character in the "wedding" literary cycle of A.P. Chekhov. The paper compares personal and national character’s features, identifies national stereotypical behavior traits which are used in the works of the literary cycle to create comic effect.
