Gordeev's government in the sociological retrospective

After the abolition of direct elections in the regions governor Aleksei Gordeev was the first head of the region recommended by the President of the Russian Federation. In this regard, it was especially important to investigate the degree of his candidacy’s approval by the inhabitants of the region and to identify estimates of his subsequent activities. The Public Opinion Institute «Qualitas» which conducts monthly sociological surveys in the city of Voronezh studied how the population attitude to the governor was changing throughout his term of office as head of the region. The results obtained by the method of public opinion polls show that Aleksei Gordeev has surpassed the initial expectations of Voronezh residents. His departure from the post of the governor of the Voronezh region stimulates reflection on the changes that have occurred in the region and on the prospects for its development.
