Characterizing anthroponymy from account books (evidence from XVIII-XIX centuries account books)

The article considers semantics of family names which were common in Tobolsk province in XVIII and XIX centuries. The analysis of the surnames involved vast lexicographic material. The conducted analysis shows that a considerable amount of family names originated from calendar names. The same applies to family names which reflected the occupation, physical appearance and personality features.
