The characteristic of physical properties of postfire soils

Бесплатный доступ

Physical soil properties after wildfire events in 2010 were studied in a case of Togljatti pine forests. Two methods of particle size distribution were compared with the aim to reveal the real grain sizes and clay content in soils. These were laser diffraction and classical sediment method. It was substituted that the method of sedimentry supports higher values of the clay fraction content due to underestimation of density and influence of soil organic matter. A determination of a soils' contact angle (CA) showed an increase of an upper horizons’ hydrophobicity as a result of wildfires, especially as a result of crown fires.
