Results of the analysis of the statistical data on forest fires in the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) provided by Department on the forest relations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are given in article. The territory of the republic is located in a zone of sharply continental climate (a lack of atmospheric moisture, aridity of the climate) and special permafrost conditions (ubiquitous permafrost, presence of re-veined ice). These conditions caused creation of the natural causes for the occurrence and spread of forest fires. But in the modern conditions an important role in emergence of the fires is played also by an anthropogenic factor. The study revealed a general picture of forest fires in the Republic for 27 years - from 1990 to 2017. The uneven distribution of quantity and areas of forest fires over the years has been revealed. The dependence of the relative inflammability and the frequency of forest tanning on the population density, remoteness on the central regions is established. The greatest number of fires occurs in Central Yakutia, the most densely populated region of the republic, but in these areas the outbreaks are eliminated faster than in remote and hard-to-reach areas. We have developed a forest fire zoning of the republic. The purpose of zoning was to help in more objective planning and carrying out the necessary fire-fighting measures, taking into account the forest and ecological conditions of a certain forest fire district. Forest fire zoning is based on forestry and forest vegetation zoning and as on more modern data. Identifies and describes 4 forest fire areas and 9 districts. 19 forestries of the forest fund of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are allocated to selected districts and regions.
