Description of the ideology of muridism and leadership skills of imams by participants and contemporaries of the Caucasian War

The article analyzes the works of historians, contemporaries and officers participated in the Caucasian War, which reveals such important issues as the ideology of Muridism, leadership skills of imams and their methods of seizing power. A number of works focus on the causes of Muridism spreading and changing the nature of the Caucasian War due to this factor. The reasons for annihilation of Shamil’s influence are reviewed by the abovementioned authors in social and military aspects.
