The article is based on analysis of unmixed complexes. It presents summarized characteristics of the flint industry of the Early Neolithic populations of the forest-steppe of the Volga region. The author reveals notable differences between the flint industries of the Mesolithic and Early Neolithic population of the region. He detects the beginning of the transition to the Neolithic in the forest-steppe Volga region and traces the reflection of this process in the flint inventory of Elshanskaya culture. The article also contains analysis of the impact of the Lower Volga region’s inhabitants on the Early Neolithic flint industry in the region at the final stages of its existence.
