On the material of Mongolian peoples, the article considers the historical periods of distribution of the Buddhist ideas and practicing, their adaptation and acculturation by the Mongolian khans. The author touches upon some problems of the history of the spread of Buddhism and its adaptation by the Mongolian people in the context of the theory of unity of two authorities - secular and theocratic ones. The author presents three standard stages of Mongolian adoption of Buddhism, and advances a hypothesis about the earlier dissemination of the Buddhist theory and practice in the northern part of the Mongolian world.
