Artistic peculiarities of multi-figure subject compositions in decoration of Russian folk textiles of the XVIII century

The article discusses the evolution of the plot and compositional space of manual decoration of Russian fabrics of the XVIII century. Particular attention is paid to the compositional links and parallels in the design of Russian and Western European printed and embroidered fabrics. The author examines in detail the basic principles of plot composition, based on traditional and innovative graphic techniques of the XVIII century.
