Artistic image of the ruler in Western Europe during the renaissance as a political propaganda

The article reveals the theme of the formation of the visual image of the monarch in Western Europe in XIV-XVI centuries within the concept of J. Burckhardt, «the State as a work of art». In the Renaissance, art becomes politically directed genre. The author examines many of the European paintings as symbolic-symbolic system, which was broadcast in society. Analyzing the portraits of European kings, the author comes to the conclusion that the paintings and the representation of the image is visual propaganda.
