Ivan Durnovo – contemporary Leo Tolstoy, at different times held high government posts, including Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers. The article examines the intersection of these two historical destinies of persons and the role of I. N. Durnovo stories in creative works of L. N. Tolstoy.
