Ideological and political message of the John Lennon's song “Revolution” in the focus of the foreign, Soviet and Russian historiography

The article is devoted to the historiographic analysis of the ideological and political message of the John Lennon’s song «Revolution» to the participants of the youth riot in 1968.The article presents the results of the research as of the single and album versions of the song «Revolution», so of the reaction of the various political forces (conservatives, liberals, communists, left radicals) on the Lennon’s position on the problem of revolutionary violence and radical reconstruction of society. The author also pays attention to the main directions of the falsification the song. The author argues that the true significance of the Lennon’s «Revolution» for the mass audience was the protest against the Maoist script of the youth revolution in the West in 1968.
