The ideological legacy of archbishop Nicanor (Brovkovich; 1826-1890) and philosophical thought in the St. Petersburg Theological Academy in the middle of the XIXth century

This article is dedicated to identifying the origins of the philosophical system of Arch-bishop Nicanor (Brovkovich; 1826-1890) that are related to the activities of teachersat St. Petersburg Theological Academy in the middle of the XIX century. Articlepresents a comparative analysis of his philosophical ideas and works of such pro-fessors of the Academy as V. N. Karpov, D. I. Rostislavov, A. A. Fisher. It definesthe value of the rector of the Academy papa Macarius (Bulgakov) in philosophi-cal biography of Grace Nicanor. It also addresses the issue of his attitude and esti-mates Academy in different periods of his tenure there. The greatest influence onphilosophical views of archbishop Nicanor had Christian Platonism of Karpov andMathematics of Rostislavov. The most important evaluation criterion of activitiesof the Theological Academy for archiereus and philosopher were not only scientificachievements but also a success in education of scholar monasticism, ecclesiasticaldiscipline of teachers and students.
