Identification as a mechanism of social roles' formation

The paper deals with the concepts of social status and social role. The main criteria and characteristics typical for social roles are considered. The types of identity that form social roles are reviewed with application of the methods of description, classification and systematization. Generalized information and findings can serve as an increment of knowledge on the issue of social roles' formation in the sociological aspect, since they involve a new understanding of the social role as a process of identity-based personal development.
