Ideological conditions for the reform of criminal justice in Russia at the beginning of the XVIII century

Introduction: the article discusses prerequisites for the formation of the ideology of criminal proceedings of the early XVIII century in Russia. Materials and Methods: the following scientific methods were used in the study: formal-legal, logical, historical-legal, analytical. The result of the study was a thorough analysis of the evolution of procedural law of the early XVIII century that produced a characteristic feature of the period is inconsistency in the application of the rules of criminal procedure. Discussion and Conclusions: the article presents the theoretical substantiation of the close ideological connection between the state and political form of government and the nature of justice in Russia in the early XVIII century.
