The article deals with analysis of the modern American text. The focus of the research is given to the intertextual relations in electronic media discourse. A new classification of forms of intertextual elements and markers is given. Survey results demonstrate the evidence of polyfunctional nature of intertextual incorporations and their efficiency for information transmission and perception. In the author`s opinion, game in the context of intertextuality is a game of senses, carried out by the game of quotations and hyperlinks. The author shows the ambivalent role of game in the intertextual aspect: it is simultaneously a tool for manipulating the consciousness of a reader and a mechanism to establish trust relationship with him, allowing the user to make his own conclusions according to information received.
