The ichtyofauna of the Bolhoy Cheremshan river (in its middle and lower flows) within the Ulyanovsk region

A review of the current state of the fish population in the Bolhoy Cheremshan river within the Ulyanovsk region is provided. In this river part 35 fish species were found based on the original data from 2006 and 2011 and analysis of literature. Generally in total catches of different fishing gear Alburnus alburnus, Gymnocephalus cernuus, Perca fluviatilis, Rutilus rutilus, Blicca bjoerkna and Abramis brama were dominated. In the river 5 fish species from the local Red Data Book and 2 candidate species for a new list of this book are registered Alburnoides bipunctatus rossicus are firstly recorded from the Bolshoy Cheremshan (Red Data Book of the Russian Federation), with local distribution and rather abundant number in some river parts.
