Iconographic tradition of picturing of the akathist to the Holy Mother in Russian culture on the eve of the early Modern period

The article objective is to define specific character of the akathist theme development in the iconography of the Holy Mother on the eve of the early modern period. The research relevance is determined by the fact that all the presented Holy Mother iconography of the period under consideration is matched with the model of the hymn-graphic psalm content. On this basis the author studies the features reflecting the akathist in the icon painting, in particular, the Russian tradition of its picturing.
