Simulation modeling of regional development mechanisms in the context of the decrease in the use of natural resources

This paper is to solve the fundamental problem of social and economic development of regions in the context of the decrease in the use of natural resources. It implies the theoretical and experimental studies of the mechanisms of economic growth and regional development as well. An important aspect of the problem under review is the structuring of the social and economic system of the region. The study involves the construction of a predictive simulation system of regional models implemented in the form of dialogue procedures between the computer and the person providing a decision. To analyze the regional structure, the authors apply such classical methods of simulation modeling as the methods of system dynamics and agent-oriented modeling. Based on the computer simulation system, the model strategies for economic development are proposed for the regions that face the decrease in the use of natural resources as well as the regions with a shortage of natural resources.
