Name in tradition

In the review the specificity of "A Dictionary of Names of the Perm Krai Residents of XVI-XVIII cc." by E.N. Polyakova is studied in the context of the All Russian tradition of lexicographic description of Russian personal names; and it is deducted that the author's new type of historical regional dictionary is of high general cultural and scientific significance. It is said that the dictionary fully covers the variety of the Prikamye list of names of the period of active development of the region by Russians and reflects the roots of the local historical tradition of nomination. A wide scope of the used sources allowed the author to present the regional specificity and the name fashion in the Krai, the characteristics of personal names functioning as well as the main means of their emotional and axiological variation in the given period.
