Immunological aspects of formation of diseases of the cardiovascular system

Recently, the role of activation of the complement system and disturbances in the cytokine balance in heart disease has been discussed. In patients with various cardiac pathologies (myocarditis, dilated, hypertrophic cardiomyopathies, stress cardiomyopathy, chronic heart failure), an important role belongs to the mediators of the acute phase response - interleukin-1 (IL-1), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-a) ... These cytokines regulate the immune response and provide homeostasis at physiological concentrations; in high doses, the same cytokines can have pathological endocrine-like effects, causing microvascular hypercoagulation, hemodynamic disturbances and metabolic depletion.
