The article describes the main characteristics of the export and import of rice in China. China is both an importer and an exporter of rice in the world. For the import and production of rice - ranks first in the world. The yield of this crop in China is higher than the average in world. China had the highest import growth rates. In general, from 2007 to 2017, global rice imports remained relatively stable, however, the price fluctuated in specific years. Over the past 10 years, global rice trade has grown by almost 50%. It amounted to about 40 million tons. In general, against the backdrop of fall in global trade, China’s exports continued to grow. It should be noted that China buys cheaper Vietnamese rice. This situation has developed as a result of the state agrarian policy aimed at additional support for rice prices as a socially significant product, as a result, domestic prices for rice have significantly exceeded the world prices. In addition, when China joined the WTO, it was not possible to defend the increased customs duties -tariffs on agricultural agricultural products cannot exceed 15% of the price of the goods itself.
