Import advance of innovations as a factor of strengthening technological sovereignty of the state

The main reason for the decrease in domestic development and the hindrance of economic growth in the country is the dependence on imported technologies. The national economy is vulnerable to external factors such as investments, foreign partnerships, foreign economic relationships, infrastructure, and political stability. The article is based on the work of foreign and Russian scholars who see import substitution as the foundation for innovation in industry and technological independence. Technological independence is the ability for a country to produce its own technological advancements and innovations, regardless of other countries' achievements. According to the report, the development of innovation and technological independence directly depends on government support, industrial development, and technological modernization. The factors of import-substituting innovations that allow for the creation of a system of interconnected elements of the technological independence of the state are discussed. The main areas of industry in the Russian Federation that need to achieve technological independence are analyzed. A scheme of the impact of certain factors such as sectoral economic structure, functional specialization, and territorial and sectoral characteristics on the technological development of regions is presented. Finally, the main criteria for the importance of innovation in ensuring the technological independence of regions are described.
